R – HT P 2024/13, Op-Ed

Introduction

NGO Reconciliation Empowering Communities (REC) in partnership with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center (ADRC) is looking for writers, researchers, civil society activists, journalists, and active individuals to write Op-Ed articles on the topic: of dealing with the past, reconciliation and peacebuilding.

Background Information

The REC in partnership with the ADRC is currently implementing the project “Harmony Talks: Fostering Inter-Ethnic Understanding among Youth”, which includes the publication of Op-Ed articles. The activity has been made possible with the assistance of the regional project “EU Support to Confidence Building in the Western Balkans,” funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The overall goal of the project is to facilitate dialogue, empower youth, promote understanding, and encourage collaboration among diverse ethnic groups in the Mitrovicë/a region.

Objective

The objective of this Invitation to pitch is to:

  • Raise awareness about the importance of reconciliation and peacebuilding efforts;
  • Stimulate public discourse on dealing with the past and its implications for present and future generations;
  • Highlight successful case studies or models of effective civic activism that contribute to peace and reconciliation;
  • Offer insights, recommendations, or critiques on current approaches to peacebuilding and reconciliation.

Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of:

  • A summary or abstract of the Op-Ed;
  • Author CV/background.

How to apply

The application should contain:

  • CV;
  • A cover letter outlining the topic proposal/abstract.

Timeframe for submission of the offer

The interested applicants should send the documents listed above to rec.kosova@gmail.com by 06 December 2024 at 16:00. The email subject should say: R – HT P 2024/13, Op-Ed.

📢 Call for Applications for Workshop programme “Introduction to Peacebuilding and Reconciliation” 

Non-governmental organizations Reconciliation Empowering Communities and D&G Solutions, invite all young people (15 to 30 years old), from all communities living in Mitrovica region, to become part of the workshop programme: Introduction to Peacebuilding and Reconciliation. 

The workshops will be held within the project “Behind the story! Youth as a catalyst agents in reconciliation” supported by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR KS), and financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

20 young people will be selected be part of professional workshops led by field-experts on the topics of nonviolent communication and actions, and meaning of the conflict and dealing with the past.

The workshops will be held between January and February 2021, and selected participants will be notified in advance.

📍 The workshops will be held respecting the measures predefined by the manual of the Ministry of Health and NIPHK, with 10 people in a group taking into account the preventive state of the pandemic Covid-19.

📢 Call for Applications for Traineeship Programme “Capacity building process of developing the abilities”

Non-governmental organizations Reconciliation Empowering Communities and D&G Solutions, invite all young people (15 to 30 years old), from all communities living in Mitrovica region, to become part of the traineeship programme: Capacity building process of developing the abilities. The training is held within the project “Behind the story! Youth as a catalyst agents in reconciliation” supported by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR KS), and financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

With this training program 20 young people will be selected be part of professional trainings led by field-experts on the topics of civic engagement and critical thinking, communication and analytical skills, fake news and media content. The trainings will be held during the period November – December 2020, and selected participants will be notified in advance.

People with special needs are encouraged to apply, all young people from rural areas, representatives of youth organizations and other interested parties to become part of this project which is supported by Municipality of Mitrovica – Directorate of Culture, Youth and Sports, in the framework of the public call for empowerment and participation of young people.
